THIS MAGICAL PROJECT REVEAL WILL MAKE YOU RETHINK THE UNUSED SPACE IN YOUR HOME!

If you're anything like me, you're addicted to before and afters! And do we have a satisfying reveal for you!

Firstly, we truly believe in creating beautiful & functional spaces for all our clients and their families. When purchasing an older home, especially in Toronto, you're bound to find some "surprises" and this project was no exception to that rule. We were definitely faced with some new challenges here but, coming up with stunning solutions is what we do best - and that we did!

With that said, let's get into it!

THE BEFORE

Our clients, a young, professional couple in the city, purchased their home and knew it needed some TLC to make it their own. With more people working from home after the pandemic, we needed to create an at-home-workspace that was stylish & modern but still felt like home!

THE DESIGN PLAN

Modern & welcoming was the design goal when I created the design plan. It was important to have this space flow together; from entry to kitchen to office. For this couple we wanted to utilize all areas of the home, to add functionality and to create a space where this couple could eventually, someday, welcome a future family into.

THE AFTER

From inspiration board to real-life, you'll see the vision transferred flawlessly from conception to reality. As I've discussed in my blog post 7 Insider Tips To Elevate Your Kitchen Design splurging on lighting in your kitchen is well worth it! Looking at the before and after photos, it might seem like this was a different home! You can really see how space planning can transform a home completely.

A modern and sleek design were a priority with this kitchen and just one way we did that was adding wood to warm it up! Another important part to any design challenge (especially in Toronto homes!) is utilizing all square footage. Not only did taking the cabinets up completely to the ceiling make for extra storage, it also made the space look bigger and brighter.

And we can't ignore those lights, just look at how those pendants capture your eye, such a show stopper!

Removing the peninsula really gave us the ability to flow the kitchen and office space together. We still wanted to have a separate cozy space for a home office, as you can see below with the help of Benjamin Moore's Wrought Iron, that was made possible!

Imagine this space while entertaining! This custom wine rack and wet bar is exactly what you need to make your guests feel right at home.

Can you believe this was unused space before? The doors were refitted to make this office a bright room for bright ideas. We changed the traditional sliding back door to a luxurious 3 panel bifold door. Now that the weather is getting warmer, imagine being able to swing those doors wide open while working at your desk!

To really complete this transformation and utilize all areas of the main floor, we of course had to add a powder room! Again, this was just unused space. Isn't it amazing what some space planning can do to a home? Since there was no bathroom on the main floor, now when our clients are entertaining guests, they can comfortably use this powder room instead of heading to the second floor to "freshen up".

Our clients came to us because they needed a warm, inviting and practicable space and that's exactly what we gave them!
